I have started an Astro Boy fan fiction story. The first chapter is done; there should be about seven, give or take.

The main character is Meta Molecola, whom many of you know on dA. I also have an entire Astro'63 postcanon setting for the story, with alternate history in the mix. The setting will be revealed shortly, but if you know the canon well (including the part of the anime not broadcasted in the US) you can guess some of it already

I just read Chapter 2, and I give it a big ol' two thumbs up! The fantastic linking of Meta to Astro via her being saved from the fire at the circus is really terrific.

That "robot circus" was always kind of awkward to me, but it fits in perfectly with Meta's part of the story, and somehow makes it more acceptable as part of the overall tale. In the 80's anime the circus was actually in Chicago, but I'm pretty sure the original anime was completely set in Japan.

I like the Cold War references, and the whole back-story about "the Shock" - you've got so much to enjoy here . . . the "post Shock" world and how the different parts of the world dealt with that situation (the actual anime, showing the entire human race evacuating the Earth was completely unbelievable, so your ideas were very thought-provoking).

It's excellent - I have to make sure I have you checked so I get notices about new chapters on DA. Keep up the good work!

PS Sure wish we had translating devices like that!
