This is a GREAT concept, and a very delightful short story! I never thought about how the other people who would have actually been a part of Atom's "development" would have experienced the process.
This is a "must read" fanfic.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the story.
Looking back, I see that I actually have three different 'head canons' that I have been writing to. I first created my own AU set in NYC with my own OC's. I also have a sort of hybrid setting pulling in characters and elements from the original manga and all three anime versions and the movie. My crossover stories are based on this setting as well. Finally, I have this fantasy of trying to put myself into the story either directly, or by proxy; examples being the "Tobias" stories, and the "UFO" story. That was the idea behind this tale, and some of my own biographical information leaked in. I'll probably come up with yet another story idea in this vein again.
