This story starts where Tezuka left us at the end of the 1963 series, hence the title, as in episode #194.

Tezuka had several ways of overcoming Atom's demise in the Manga that followed the end of the Anime. See if you can guess how I'm doing it, the hint is in the very last line of the first chapter.

There's missing quotations at the beginning of at least one sentence.

And the only thing I can figure is ghosts... Thinking about it, it reminds me a little of one of my ideas that I had one time. I'm not sure if it's exactly like it, though. It seems maybe a lil bit different, but near as I can tell, it plays on the weird psychic connection headcanon that I have as well.

Thanks as usual, your eyes are better than mine at proof reading.

The next chapter is now up,

No, it's not ghosts. Have you ever seen the third Star Trek Movie, "The Search for Spock"?

Mmmmmmmmno? I think I might have seen a part of it on TV once? (I could have seen more, had I been paying attention...)

Mm. That kinda gives we a weird vibe. I guess I'll have to read this and see...

Well the comment wasn't really directed at you LBF, I just threw that out in general. Please don't be slighted by it. Hope you're enjoying the story BTW. I wanted to do some more stuff where Cobalt has a more important role to play in the plot.

Mm, see I assumed that bc no one else was talking to you atm... It's probably more my fault? For being ridiculously self-centered??

Anyway, Cobalt does deserve a little limelight every now and then, yes.

Well at any rate for those that haven't seen the Star Trek movies here is the connection....

At the end of ST2-'The Wrath of Khan' Spock mind melds with Dr. McCoy just before he goes into the Warp Reactor chamber of the Enterprise to get the warp engines back on line. This exposes him to a fatal dose of radiation resulting in his death. During the mind meld Spock transfered his 'ka' (kokoro?) to McCoy who then starts to go a little crazy as he is carrying Spock's 'soul' around inside of him. During his funeral, Spock's body is sent down to the Genesis planet which has just been formed by the device that Khan detonated. The life force fields still active on the planet regenerate Spock's body, but it is mindless.

In the third movie the crew of the Enterprise return to the planet and battle it out with the Klingons. They find Spock's cloned body and bring him to Vulcan where his mind is unmelded from McCoy and put back into his regenerated body.

Actually a rather hokey way of undoing the death of Spock in the second movie, ST3 wasn't as much of a box office hit as ST2. or ST4 were.

Anyway I imagined that Atom would have known that he might not return from the trip to the sun, and he'd leave part of himself with his brother......

The story will continue soon.

Oh, it was the third one I saw a part of on TV... (although I may have seen parts of the second one on TV at a later time; idk...)
