Unfortunately, this article fails to explain the repetition; but this is a great film (The B&W one, not the remake), so you should watch it. In short, Gort the alien's large scary robot is about to go on a rampage after seeing that the Earthmen have killed his master; the command, if recognized & obeyed, will prevent this.
