No, they do not have to be specific becuase i told GhostATR that he would be his version of Astro boy so as long as the charactor your thinking keeps some familair charactoristics I will have no problem what kind of charactor it is as long as we can recongize the charactor with the name.

I suppose I will base them on a mixture of the 2003 and 80's series then.
