BTW, who is that guy? Just curious. :whistling:

Gendo Ikari, the commander of NERV Special Duty Organization who forces his son Shinji to pilot a biological robot in Neon Genesis Evangelion. (Don't watch that show until you're a little bit older...) [/QUOTE]

Eh? What kind of Anime is it then, If I'm too young to watch it? :d evil: :ninja: :p

It's mostly a giant robot anime, but then it gets really disturbing and psychological. The main things I'd be worried about showing to a kid are the mildly racy scenes (i.e. main character looks down a girl's shirt by mistake) and a suddenly gory moment in episode 18. It's a good series, but you might want to wait until you're 15 or 16 before seeing the TV series or movies.

Yeah, that would probably end up happening to me. Everyone would probably end up thinking I'm Dracula (Cause I wanna dress up as Black Jack, cape and all.....) And I am a girl, so it makes it even weirder, dressing up as a boy.... -_- Or maybe they will think I'm a zombie.
Hehe, I just say, 'I'm suppose to be Black Jack, the number one Surgeon in da world!' :d evil: :p :ninja:

You'd be surprised how often I see girls cosplaying as boy characters at conventions. Or "Crossplaying" as I've heard it referred to from time to time.
Yeah, I went as an anime character for Halloween once and got the same response. I went as Tuxedo Mask from Sailor Moon and most people thought I was either Dracula or The Phantom of the Opera

I've seen ever weirder: a guy cosplaying as Sailor Moon! With wig, fake boobs, high heels and all!

I once cosplayed as a Shinigami (Soul Reaper) from the anime Bleach on Halloween, and people kept asking me what I was dressed as. A guy even asked me : "So, are you a ninja or a Jedi?"

Yeah, black kimono and a katana, so look like a ninja... :ninja:

Eek, a guy cosplaying as Sailor Moon? Maybe I will dress up as Tuxedo Mask sometime.... Or Naruto, or maybe even Kakashi... Or maybe Rock Lee! I should really dress up as a girl character, but I can't help it. XD

Oh man, NGE had some of the best animation. That one episode where Shinji's EVA busted out of its armor and started eating the other angel was so damn cool...and juicy. (eww) The ending stunk but the movies they made to re-do the ending scarred me for life. That is some serious psychological mind-crapping there! >.< Awesome, though.
(That new movie was weird though. Good, but weird.....had a great soundtrack.)
I've played the Nintendo 64 game based on the death/rebirth movies. It was all in Japanese, but sure was fun. xD

@Dragonrider1227 - You dressed up as Tuxedo Mask?!?! xD You have just won one free internets!

"Fauna" wrote:@PsychoShinji: Do you happen to be named after Shinji Ikari?

:D Why, yes I am! It's my online handle that I chose years and years ago. Evangelion is probably my favorite series, ever. I've also cosplayed as Shinji Ikari in his plugsuit and school uniform for years- since I was 14 myself! Hehe. Awesome to see a fellow Eva fan here! <3 Here is a link to my Cosplay gallery, where you can see pics of my Shinji cosplay and various others!

And, back from Otakon, here are some photos I got there! :D

Image

This kid was so cute! I was waiting for my friend to come out of the bathroom and his mother came over and asked me if I would take a photo with him! How could I ever refuse such a great opportunity? Even more fun was the fact that they had also seen the "Astro Boy" 2009 movie earlier that morning in the HD room! (Which, by the way, was really well-received by the fans! There was a decent number of people at such an early hour, and people were laughing and applauding and really seemed to enjoy it. It was a real thrill to see it with fellow anime fans at a con while dressed as Astro.)

And here is a picture my friend snapped of me at night to show the chest light. I was super-tired at this point so I went for a "sad, pensive Astro" look, hehe.

Image

I also got a few shots with Megaman cosplayers, which was really fun. Hehe. I saw a Black Jack cosplayer on Friday, but I was wearing a different cosplay at the time! I also had a few people telling me that there was a guy dressed as Dr. Tezuka himself at the con. I tried to find him but never ran into him...i guess it's not surprising because there were 28,000 people this year- a big change from when I first went back in 1998! Let me know if you guys want to see more photos! :astro:
