Don't hate me, but . . . I never really liked it. It's distinctive, but it's sharp, angular, rigid and he's a guy with a lot of "soul" -- I picture him with real hair (it would need to be fireproof, though). The points look comical and (to me) work against his earnest nature, by portraying him as a bit odd. They look too much like antennas to me.
Let's put it this way -- I like his hair as much as I like Elefun's hair.

Well, on a practical and scientific view, his sharp hair would make sense, being a robot and all. And given that Tenma designed him with a lot of abilities in mind, perhaps realistic hair would just get in the way, even if it's short.
Of course that didn't stop other robots from having 'realistic hair', but who's to say that those aren't hair molds either.
