"ASTROBUDDY" wrote:Way back at the dawn of anime fandom in the U.S.A., at one of the conventions someone had translated all the main characters of "The Great Robot Competition" known as "The Robot Olympics" in a synopsis of the episode's plot; so I share them with you now.

Doctors Rank and Rancid are known as Dr. Taburei and Prof. Yaburei.
Humbug I is Demon I.
Rocketta is Luna and I believe Comet Kid is Mosquito. I also have listed as Luna's creator one Dr. Scarlet.

Thanks, ASTROBUDDY! Any clue as to the meanings of those two names?
I got ‘Scare-hakase’ for Luna's creator, (scar-aye) as I recall the pronunciation. I will run it again to see if I can detect those names, but previously, I listened for the title suffixes, but could not find any.

 i JUST CHECKED EbAY for the guide using "ASTRO BOY 193" & all that returned was A VERY expensive laser disc set. :tezuka: "mighty atom" gave some results pertaining to a strong man who used that name; he even had it licensed to a laxative.  http://cgi.ebay.com/Mighty-Atom-Health-Products-Pep-O-Lax-/250795300135?pt=Antiquarian_Collectible&hash=item3a64909527

I could not find any book using the search parameters that came to mind.

Hey great! Am I right or am I right about it being a great companion to "Mighty Atom Complete Book"?

My copy has 144 pages, not counting the covers which would make it a total of 148 pages.

Hey, here's a question for you. In my copy of "Mighty Atom Complete Book", on page 86, there are no pictures for episode 127. Does your copy also feature missing pictures for episode 127? If it does than purchasing "The Astro Boy 193 Episode Guide" is really great thing!

I  :astro: :)

Unfortunately, there are a few episodes whose video has been lost:

  • 125 Find the Bacteria has a few short video clips supplemented by crudely drawn stills.
  • 127 Experimental Robot has neither video nor sketches.
  • 139 Astro Boy Stolen uses a few crudely drawn & animated stills

Do you have DH vols 6-8? I am wondering if you compared these to the version of CHRONICLES in the Mighty Atom Complete Book?

Okay! Are you saying that these episodes do not exist in your DVD collection of the Mighty Atom B/W series? Or are you saying that in your copy of the "Mighty Atom Complete Book" that clips from these episodes are missing? In my copy of the 193 episode guide, there are scenes from all episodes.

Yes, I have a complete set of all 23 volumes of DH's Orignal Astro Boy and I do remember checking out the differences at the beginning of the Mighty Atom tales, just to see what they were talking about when the serial was reprinted in the DH series/Akita Shoten reprint collection. But they do show a bit of what the original looked like in DH volume 6. So for a collector I thought it was interesting to own a replica of the original.

Hope you get the episode guide soon. It has many interesting items and then you will agree with me about it being a good companion, etc.

I  :astro: :)

No, I am saying that the DVDs themselves lack video but not audio for those. Thus, the one you ask about is completely black when running. Hence, the lack of an image in the book.

Is it possible that those could have just been Drama Tracks? They're basically supposed to have nothing but audio.

But I guess they're not if they're supposed to be actual episodes.
