Why are Robot Boys so popular?

Most of you have probably never heard of this show as it is from the 80's. It is called "Small Wonder", another of my faves growin' up.

There's lots of robot girls in anime! Ones I can think of immediately are Arale Norimaki from Dr. Slump (I heavily recommend this manga), Nuku Nuku from All Purpose Cat Girl Nuku Nuku, Marie from Boku no Marie, and Tokiko Mima from Key the Metal Idol.

I forget the character's name, I think it was 009 and they all went by numbers. But the anime was called "Cyborg 009" if I remember correctly. I haven't seen that anime in a while, so my memory is a little vague.

Though, after viewing the 1st ep on NF, I found the series a bit lacking.

There are probably more android girls than boys; Mahoro, Kurumi & her sisters, Lila & the others of Najica Blitz tactics, Black Look's mama, Many of the naughty type; I have a list of very many, but now I am not going to look.
