I'm not sure what you mean..but I'll try to explain the best way I can. Tezuka had a lot of characters and really enjoyed drawing stories for them which is why sometimes it seems like things are out of order.

You know the 1950's manga of Astro? They are not in the correct order and I am asking why he didn't want them in the right order :)

Yup, the Tetsuwan Atom manga compliations have never followed a chronological pattern. I gues it's for commercial reasons: first they published the most "commercial" stories and ended with the "residual" material (in fact, volumes 22 and 23 haven't been publishet by Glénat in my country. I had to resort to *blushes* scanlations).

This ties in with Phoenix and Black Jack as well though in Black jack not that importand however the reason for it had something to do with that he wanted to challange himself sometimes.
and had always verry episodic stories so he could play easily with the past and the future events wich could improof a story as long as you give some what of an explenation in the begging it doesn't matter.

He's talking about the compiled order, not the order of the first publications. Tezuka drew Astro Boy pretty much in chronological order, with him aging as fast as real time (so he was 18 in 1969). It's when the stories were compiled together that a different order was decided.

I've heard somewhere that this wasn't the first time all Astro Boy stories were being compiled into a complete edition in Japan, but that sales were never good enough to complete said editions (!), so using a new order was necessary.

I was talking about Japanese editions in my last post. The American edition is a copy of the last Japanese edition from the 70's, but translated, plus whatever new stuff had come out later included in vol. 22 and 23.
