Look at the "spikes!" This is Osamu as a child!!
This wonderful movie, on Viki, has subs part of the way through - it's called the Tale of Osamu Tezuka - I am Son Goku - and it's a very touching story of his life as a boy.
Goku was HIS "Astro" and for every one of us who have been bullied and teased for who we are, and for all of us who have suffered difficult times and terrible losses, this movie "explains" why Tezuka's works touch us so -- he was very much like us. Goku was his inspiration - just as many of us turned to Astro.
According to the notes on Viki, this is what he was developing while on his deathbed. I guess he "promised" Goku to create a manga movie of him . . . and Tezuka Pro delivered his lifelong promise posthumously.
