Hoshie Tenma

Postby Toshio » 12 years ago

If Hoshie Tenma got a major role in a new Tetsuwan Atom series, then how you would like to see her represented?
I thought about adding her as a robot hater who hated Dr. Tenma's work on robotic that she even divorced from him and let Tobio in his guard.
Also, it would be frustrating the meeting with Atom who share Tobio's memories, since she would reject him since he is a robot.
Well, at least is the idea which I have for fanfics, but how you guys would like to see her developed?

Wow, I think it's safe to say how you and I both perceive Hoshie are as different as night and day.

I perceive Hoshie actually to be a much more gentle soul. A woman who is clumsy and ditzy, but doesn't give up either and has allowed her kindness (her greatest asset) to let her seek success in life. I short, she is Tenma's polar opposite. Whereas Tenma is cold and calculating, Hoshie is more sweet and forgiving. A little too forgiving in fact, as it tends to cause some of her suffering.

I could definitely see Hoshie being in the 03 series as a side character. One who meets Astro by chance when he risks his life to save her. She ends up making friends with Astro, and the two get along well. She also makes friends with Zoran, whom she views as the daughter she never had. In addition to that, Hoshie finds a friend in Yuko, and is quite fond of O'Shay, happy to see that Astro has a strong father figure in his life. Despite all of this happiness, Astro can't help but feel like he knows her from somewhere.

In regards to Tenma, that's a horse of a different colour. Despite fully objecting to his plans, she still finds herself unable to let go of her feelings for her husband. Not really interested in manipulating her, Tenma still wants her at his side. Both for safety reasons, but also so that they can be together again. Hoshie never backs down from criticizing him during their meetings, but Tenma often reminds her that keeping her connection to Astro a secret makes her no better than him. However, all he wants for her is happiness, so he can't really attempt anything without feeling guilty if he ends up hurting her in any way.

Due to her confliction over her husband, it has left Hoshie somewhat depressed. Eventually though, se finds the will to move on, and begins enjoying her new life. Unfortunately, she dies shortly before the Robotania arc, due to a case of tuberculosis. Before she dies though, she does tell Astro who she really is to him. And fortunately, she is able to die happy. Unfortunately, Tenma is the last person to see her before she dies, and her death crushes him.

I thought about making her live in my story. Also, tuberculosis is a pretty old sickness which now have a cure, so in the future it could not even exists.
She would reject Atom at first for being a "puppet", but she would change her mind after being saved by him.

I see what you mean, the way I work around her dying of tuberculosis is due to the fact that they weren't able to catch it in time, and therefore her death will be inevitable.

Hmm, that sounds like it would be interesting. Exactly how would she get into trouble though?

It's still set to be decided, either being target of Skunk or Anti-Ai Robot extremists for example.
Did you read my latest fanfics, btw?
Also, I think the idea of developing her and then make her die later kinda boring.
I'm trying a different possibility for both Tobio, Atom, Uran and Hoshie in future stories.
It would depend of how the story would go. I thought about Atom considering about shutting down by himself since he was even rejected by his own 'mother', but Ken convinces him to not give up of living.

Nope. It used to have several cures, but the disease grew resistant to them, making them less efficient.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Really? Well, that definitely sucks. But on the plus side (for me at least), it certainly gives more justification for why they didn't catch it in time.

Um, no offence, but don't you think Astro contemplating shutting himself down, just because he was rejected is a bit out of character for him?

It's based in a scene from the 2003 mangá when he thought that everyone believed him to be a threat and working alongside Atlas in the attack against humans.
Of course, I'll put more plot development in the story to make it more convincing.
Anyway, any more ideas about Hoshie Tenma's development?
