Toward a real Astro?

Eventually I do expect to see robots that will fully function as humanoid companions and assistants. You can forget about something with all the systems that Astro has, the power factors make that quite impossible. However if you are talking about something that resembles him, that is nearly possible now. Just look as Asimo, Kirobo, and a few other examples and you see how close we are. (I wonder how long it will be before one of the astronauts on the ISS slips an 'astro wig' on Kirobo's head?)

Indeed. But I think it is impossible for a robot to have the personality of what a human has, it is something special that we do not even understand yet.

That was marvelous. Things like this reminds us of how far we've come in technology when we sit down and realize just exactly what we can do as humans.

BTW, Jeffbert, robi sits on a special chair to recharge, so it appears that his refueling socket is in the same place as Astro's
