Who said Ochanomizu doesn't have a tragic back-story? How much of him do we really know? Oh, that sounds like a good idea for a fan fiction story. I don't know much about him. I wish I could write. After a page of trying to write fan fiction I quit.
Since this is a Reno thread...hmm, Reno and Ochanomizu story, what could you do with that?

The only back stories that I know of concerning Ochanomizu were in the "Once upon a time" story arc that was reprinted in Dark Horse #6 and #7. I don't think Tezuka ever dropped his first name!

Actually, I think I found a thread from Tezuka in English that pointed out that Reno may have been an import from another of Tezuka's works, Ambassador Magma. I'll see if I can find it...

Um, here, I think.

So, yeah. According to this user (who I think is one of our banned users on here, though I never knew the exact reason why), he is actually based on this "Mamoru" character, and even a little bit on this "Gam" robot.

I remember finding this rather interesting when I first found it.

I've copied the image links from the other site.

In McCarthy's book she refers to Gam as Gom. Probably a typo.
Now this is yet ANOTHER Anime that Anime Sols should pick up!

As far as we KNOW he doesn't have a tragic back-story :)

I hope he doesn't have a horrible past though, nothing like Bruce Wayne's anyway. Astro Boy as a whole is depressing enough as it is.

Hmm, so Reno is an import? the image certainly looks like him.
