I was able to acquire another volume of these 80s anime books through amazon.co.jp. It's 2nd-hand but came in pretty good condition. As before, I made a 'few' scans:

Wow thanks for sharing this. The artwork looks so much like the Anime I wonder if any of the frames were copied from actual cels?

Strange Wings@. I do see a difference in "save the classmates" between the Anime and the manga. In the Anime Atom fell after stopping the ride and tore his shoulder open. No such rip in the manga so they must have drawn some new frames besides using some cels.

No new frames have been drawn for these anime mangas. If you look close enough, Astro's shoulder actually remains ripped open in the middle frame.

:lol: If the manga just used cels or frames from the anime, they should be the same. There are inconsistencies throughout the B&W series, as reused frames show characters dressed differently than they should be. :p
