Uran is the "borrow word" for uranium in Japanese. The Japanese often use words from other languages when they don't have a word in their language to describe something, thus they "borrow the word" and make it their own! Chitan is the "borrow word" for titanium. The hyphen in the word is there to denote that the last syllable when pronounced is held a little longer. In the case of Ti-tan his name is a play on the fact that he has a loud wail, so it should be pronounced CheeeTan. (In English Tietan or Ti-tan.)

I did post "SCENES FROM THE LOST MANGA "TI-TAN" in a previous thread under that title. The story has never been reprinted in Japanese in full any where as far as I know and I believe it was the last Astro Boy story published in the "Mighty Atom Club" magazine back in 1966.

Yes, but there are some slight differences as the manga plot was not enough to fill a half hour show.

Do you have a higher resolution scan of that story you could post? It's coming up just a bit fuzzy on my browser, if I try to enlarge it at all.
The scenes where he destroys stuff with his yelling is funny (Looks like part of the roof of Atom's house got blown away by it!). I don't think they did that in the Anime (but plenty of people holding their ears!). I'm not sure how many episodes he was in, in the amime. For sure "fuss over babies", "nightmare adventure", and the very last episode #193.
