Wow. that's cool. I think there is someone in my family who is a singer and another one who was a (Dancer I think, or was it singer as well?) who appeared on TV once. But that's about it.

I agree; I think it is a matter of the different philosophy, or, perhaps I should say, the way they approached the task.

I thought about it and where as in the US the characters can be multi-ethnic, for ex.) Mr. Cacciotore, and therefore an actor can use a perceived ethnic accent as well as voices with different tones, the most they can do in Japan is have a character speak with what would be considered a regional accent.

That makes sense (as though I should know). I recall some other anime noting that some characters spoke in a rural accent. The dub had them saying such things as "y'all" & "ain't" to simulate the accent.
