It probably does, I have batteries with similar guages. You hold down a marker at each end and the strip fills up with green, like a built in battery tester.

Interesting! So far, I never came across at that kind of batteries.
I'm barely using those types anymore, except for remote controls. Hmm, makes me wonder what would happen if I would charge my DVD player's one by using those Astro batteries. Perhaps the DVD inside might end up as a Blu-ray Disc while playing.
