The Blue Knight has several adventures in the new series, the most recent of which is # 38. In this ep, a family of robots is broken up as mean ol' humans capture mama and papa, and the daughter, who just happens to adore the B K, is rescued by him.

The Bablefish translation of the synopsis makes little sense:

Family ???? and the parents of the robot which was made experimentally because the human lives with space environment in the same way as the genuine family mutually had lived happily with love. I've seen the blue night episode, but shinsen-gumi seems like a full length feature?

It sound like the Blue Knight is similar to Atlas. Would that assumption be correct?

In that they both want freedom for robots, yes. However, the answer depends upon the series. In the current series, Atlas is a teenage juvenile delinquent, who wants to conquer the humans, while the B K is more of a leader of a rebellion. I remember in the manga he wanted to create a nation for and of robots.
