Hey, has anyone else here besides me had trouble getting into the FTP site today? I keep getting a message that it's on hold or something. I can only guess that Anapan is working on it or something like that.

FTP server
I've been hit by a barrage of computer problems for the past 2 days, the biggest ones being a couple of nasty viruses/worms one of which has been actively working to stop me from updating my virus software. Also my internet's been going on the fritz only allowing me to do anything on the internet for a few seconds at a time before it goes down again. I'm just now able to be on it for long enough to visit the sites I regularly go to but it's still kinda flaky. I've almost cleaned up the problems now tho so everything should be back to normal soon... at least I hope so.

So u think just getting the videos is better? I didn't really know what to go for, i would like them on dvd but they aren't. But if i buy them on vhs they might come out on dvd down the track. Any ideas on what i should do?
Yeah, it's a tough call. I'm holding out on buying the 60s series in the hope it comes out on DVD. I bought volume 1 on VHS though, maybe you could do that with the 80s series. You know, quench your addiction for the time being.

Hey Anapan, I haven't been able to connect to your ftp site properly for a couple of months. It connects, but can't get a directory listing:
I'm using CuteFTP v4.0. It worked fine for ages and I didn't change anything.
Please don't think I'm treating you as my free tech support! Just wondering if there's something obvious I'm doing wrong that you or someone else can point out. I don't have any problems connecting to other sites.

Despite it being VHS, the quality is still far better than anything you might get on AVI or SVCD.
ok.. I know sfa about video and how it works in any of its formats, But I know what looks good and what doesnt.
VHS has NEVER looked as good as a properly done SVCD or even VCD. In fact I have seen a few VCDs made from VHS that have been 'softwared' somehow.. (like the picture refreshed or something, honestly I am clueless about how it all works) and even THEY look better than the original VHS they came from.
Why do you say VHS is 'better quality"?
Please explain this for the st00pid people in the audience

(thats prolly only me anyway..)
three and a half years.. for what?

yep, I'm afraid I'm gonna have to agree with Danny on this one, VCD's are about the same as VHS, however a properly encoded episode sourced from DVD will look so much better, of course there are so many factors to consider with encoded eps, codec, source etc, but just wait a few days and Danny here will upload the first seven Jap 1980's eps (@480x360) plus a VERY special Eng 1980's (@560x420) ep, stay tuned
