Astro boy (1980's) on DVD

Is there going to be a DVD release of the 1980's astro boy series?
I heard a rumour sony/columbia were going to some time in '05 but its just a rumour

I can't understand why it takes them so long to release a DVD version of the '80 series...

The '80 serie has about 24 years!!! Almost my age... They have in their hand all the serie. They had much times to make a DVD serie since the invention of the DVD !!!! <_<

It's strange 'cause I often see some of the more stupids anime/cartoons on DVD in stores...

It all comes down to marketing and timing. The new Astroboy series has brought a revival in interest, so right now they can make the most money off releasing the old series.

From where this rumour come from (release of Astroboy) ?
I need an official message from a credible web site or company, announcing this possible release of Astroboy in DVD format...

Why:

There's a company here in Quebec (http://www.imavision.com/en/) which frequently release DVD format of animes.

I sent them an email to convince them to relase a DVD format of the french version of Astro. Why ask them? It's the only company which could release a french version... They told me that they never really felt that people were asking for Astroboy, as I said them.

I said them that there's a rumour about a release in DVD format of Astroboy by Sony/Columbia. They want to see to believe: They asked me where they can find it... I mean: an official message from a credible web site or company, announcing this possible release of Astroboy...

Note: Only a message in the Madman forum would certainly not be sufficient for them.

Can I find it somewhere? If so, I would be happy 'cause it's seem that there are interested 'cause they don't just reply me with a impersonal and automatic message....

I can't find any info on that. I can't see why they wouldn't release it immediately since the series is already playing, but who knows?
