Besides his physical powers Astro's got a further secret weapon which is quite fascinating:
He is able to separate between people who tends to do bad things from people with good intensions, and this apparently only by sheer looking at them.

This power of his mind is mentioned somewhere in the mangas, but I think there are some scenes shown too in the 80's anime where Astro's using his 6th sense, ie. in the ep
'Astro Fights Aliens'. Here Astro answers to Ltd. Blackstone: "Well, my sixth sense tells me that Ltd. Nelson was right".
I can imagine there might be some other episodes (60's, 80's, 03's) in which Astro's taking use for his mind power, but I don't know for sure.
If anyone else here in this forum knows about other scenes in relation to Astro's 6th sense you are welcome to mention them :) .

Another thing makes me wondering when I consider about Astro's 6th sense:
Supposing Astro just spotted a man on the street on whom Astro's 6th sense reacts with the message 'this guy is evil'. What is he supposed to do? Neither can Astro keep observing that man every minute since Astro's got plenty of other things to do, nor can he go to the police without any proof of a possible crime, he only would get a scolding by Inspector Gumshoe/Tawashi :( .
However, Astro just knows this man on the street is going to do a crime but without any evidence there's nothing he can do.
Our little hero sees himself now confronted with sort of a 'Cassandra Complex', a term commonly used for knowing what will happen in the future but without any ability of changing the course of the predicted events.
Astro simply has to wait for the crime's going to happen until he can react with his physical powers.
In a world such like in 'Minority Report', his 6th sense would be a great help to prevent crimes, but in the Astroboy world his special mind power only helps him to handle human relations.

Sometimes it isn't easy at all for Astro to deal with his superior abilities  .

This seems to me like something a human can say when he somewhat guessed what was going on without knowing why. There is nothing to do with a 6th sens, people sometime inconsciously note details that help them guess the truth. Therefore this ability would merely make Astro more human than him having one more superpower ;)
However we don't know exactly what meant the authors of the episode...

Of course there seems to be no ambiguity for the 60s ;)

PS: I can't find where it is in the episode, could you please give me a clue? :P
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

It's a power that was sort of dropped after the 60s series. In the 80s series, Astro didn't seem to be pick up the true motives of the bus driver in Blackie Young's gang, Captain Cloud, Captain Perot, Dr Huntley, Hamegg, the airship hijacker, Pook's hunters, the hotel owner from Spaceport R45, Mayor Ballast, Morlock, Pedro, Professor Adams, Professor Cavalette, Professor Hyde, Professor Lewis, and Senior Garcia.

I guess it's harder to write a gripping story if the hero knows who the bad guys are right from the start!

He did seem to be a fairly good judge of character most of the time thought. Like in Blackie Young, he correctly guesses the ranch owner was a robot because he was so kind.

About 13 minutes in. After Astro found the UFO and brought the dead alien back, then he called Lt Blackstone into his office.

That sort of came up in the movie Unbreakable. Bruce Willis could tell what crimes a person had committed by touching them. He walked through a crowded train station with his arms out and picked up a lot of mental images. Not that he could do anything about them.
