English translated lyrics of new series?

Just finished watching my subbed set of the 2003 series. It's so Good! I just love how they ended this series.

Anyway, I am really interested in what the lyrics are for the opening and closing themes? I tried looking on the internet but found nothing.

Does anyone know?

I'm missing the last line.

It seems the last line is really "Your heart is..."
In Japanese the last sentence is "kimi no kokoro mo"
Why doesn't babelfish accept Romanji characters? :angry: Translator needed please My limited knowledge only tells me that "kokoro" is "heart", but anyway everyone here must now this by the time

I haven't seen that English sub since I last watched cybotron's video stream. He seems to have a different copy of the new series than me, because my begining and ending themes aren't dubbed. But thanks to you now I remember how good the lyrics are.

The old lyrics of the 60's and 80's are a rallying cry for Astro, cheering him on. That's good too, but the new lyrics are so touching. They show us Astro's heart and how vunerable he is.

The best lines are: "You hang you head and hide you tears."
"We'll always be by your side, so your're not alone anymore."
"Why, why is my heart filled with pain and tears?"
and finally: "Why, Why, Tears...they fall and I'm alone.
I hold my tiny knees and look up and far away."
Ok, "I hold my tiny knees" That did it, Too sad

Well, no denotes possession, literally 's. I'm still waiting for for Bablefish to load so I can enter it all.

It translates the hiragana "kimi no kokoro mo" as "Your heart".

I think kimi means you, adding no makes it you's, or more accurately, your. I'm not sure what mo means at the end of a sentence, probably one of those untranslatable grammatical changes (like adding desu makes it polite).

Your heart. Actually that seems to make more sense in the context of the lyrics, the implication that there isn't anything to follow, rather your heart refers to the lyrics that came before.

I thought "you" was "anata" ... There may be several words though
It sure is not in the small lexicon I have, so it is probably not a dayly word. But since it doesn't have "kokoro" either, I am not sure how far I can trust it

Where's my brain ... I've got a Japanese dictionary here.

kokoro = heart; mind
kimi = you
mo = a particle used at the end of sentences for emphasis and which expresses emotion, enthusiasm or rebuke, etc.

"anata" is the most common way to say "you", there are many others.
"no" can mean more than 's, it denotes a wider range of connective relationships. Like if I worked for Mitsubishi, my business card might say "Mitsubishi no Furagu". If Frag/Furagu was my real name.

I have the Oxford Japanese Minidictionary from Angus & Robertson. It was $20, and way better than the Collins or any others I looked at.
Also, the Windows XP Japanese IME is really handy. It puts a toolbar next to the system tray where you can select your language/alphabet. I can switch to Japanese, and then I simply type the romaji and it comes out in hiragana/katakana/kanji. Great for bablefish entries, or searching for "tetsuwan atomu" and getting the real results.

Wow! Thank you so much! The lyrics are so touching and beautiful.

Unfortunately, the beginning and ending songs are only subbed in Japanese, and my Japanese translation/reading skills aren't the best.

Also, you've only given the translation for one of the theme songs. The series has two, one that ends with that Why, why song and the other that ends with an upbeat/slower version of the 80s original theme song.

Do you know the English translation for the second theme song?

I've done the first line.

dokoka ra (kono hanishi wo hajime you?)

Babelfish translates to:

From somewhere (at this story as for beginning?)

Yikes.

The dictionary:
dokoka = somewhere
ra = adds the meaning of "more than one"
kono = this
hanishi = talk; subject (of/for a talk)
wo = marks the direct object of a verb or the space through which an action moves. (huh?)
hajime = beginning
you = something to do / for the use of / appearance / western (culturally) / to be drunk

This translation stuff is hard!
I think I'll type in the rest and Bablefish it.
