Look at this people, it appears us Australians are now getting a complete box set release of the new series for a nice price.

Just gotta hope it's still 16:9 like the single volume releases, unlike the R1 US box set.

Can't wait for more details!

Thanks for the link!

Ugh ... 5 discs and looks the same packaging as the US version. I'm guessing it's the same deal. The first half of the series was released on 6 DVDs for region 4, now the entire series is coming out on 5 DVDs.

At least the aspect ratio is still to be revealed.

Atoman, the product you keep linking to appears to be a bootleg like the kind I've seen Chinatown Sydney.

I can verify this product is a bootleg. Apart from the Chinese subtitles, no region encoding, no file encryption, no menus, no extra features, and the contact adress being cartoon_mac@yahoo.com, THERE IS A CLOCK IN THE CORNER OF THE SCREEN! It's the same TV capture that was being traded on P2P networks once the series began broadcast in Japan, and it's the same TV capture that TV-Nihon used for their fansub.

I am however interested to know if an official Japanese release exists with English subtitles and (I'm dreaming now I guess) is it widescreen?

The Korean dub looks official, and includes the Japanese audio and English subtitles. And it's widescreen!. Notably, it's locked to region 3 and there are no Chinese subtitles.

The number of different covers on the boxes, DVDs and different bootlegs can get confusing, so look for the cover written in Korean:

KoreaPop also has it. It's a lot more expensive there, but you get a puzzle and some action figures and trading cards with box 1. [/b][/quote]
Hey all. I just ordered the Keoran box set 1, which has the first 12 episodes. So together with my Korean box set 2, I have the first 24 eps.(-ep. 20) in wide-screen with proper English subs. It's cool finding non bootleg Astro dvds with subs.

Check this out!
I found a webpage of all of the Volume collections of the 2003 version of Astro Boy.

http://translate.google.com/translate?sour...11321431%2Ehtml

It's a pretty long address... :D

Just scroll down the webpage to find the other volumes.

Well it appears the set will now be split over two releases - double the price at this stage but at least it raises the chances of it being widescreen right?

Yeah, check it out:

They're releasing individual DVDs the same as the first six volumes, as well as a 6-disc box set of series 2 (due September).
The individual ones are widescreen, so I guess the box set will be too.

Unfortunately it's a lot more expensive than the US release, but the picture is much better.

I'm trying to help somebody who wants an unedited version. From what I read, the best solution seems the Korean set, as the Japanese set is, well, expensive, to say the least...

For you people who bought the Korean set, from which store did you buy it? Any other information about the release of the episodes after #24?
