Thanks for the awesome Uran pics Jeffbert.

As far as Cobalt is concerned, he was originaly a prototype Astro built by Dr. Tenma, but he didn't like the end result and put him in storage. Then he was later adopted by Astro and family. Note this is the 60's anime version of Cobalt.

In the manga version he was built by Dr. Ochanimizu to replace Astro when he wasn't availible, and of course Astro adopts him in this version too. That's what I remember anyway, haven't read it in a while.

I do not recall if Tenma built him in the anime, but it seems that it would have been Tenma who would have built him, since he was bereaved at Tobio's demise.

No. He does not appears in the 2000 serie either.
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Actually this all brings up another question but maybe it deserves its own topic.

In 'Astroboy's first love' (the last episode of the 80's series), Astro makes a comment to the girl robot (can't remember her name) that essentially has his same design. Namely, he is surprised she can feel lonely because only very advanced robots (if any except for Astro) can experience this emotion. The thought in my mind was if Uran or his parents can feel the same emotions he can?

Actually, this was a very early episode set before he got his family. :)
The robot girl was Nikki.

I think it is a good thing Uran can't fly. She is enough trouble on the ground!
Zoron, on the other hand (2003 series) is, for the most part, a whiny little wuse who uses a fraction of her power where Uran would stretch hers to it's limits.
I think Zoron is an insult to Uran (one of my childhood heroes)

Anyone else feel this way?

Well I agree with that. Actually, it would have been a good idea to wait and see how Astro would turn out before giving him all his ultrapowers!

As for Nikki, it was the last episode shown in Japan, but you are right about the English version. I found it really strange that just after he came back to Japan, he would be sent on such a difficult mission!

No, I like Zoran, although I would have liked it better if they had called her "Uran" again. :)

I totally agree! I think Zoran is obnoxious whinger. Uran was a bit of a brat at worst, but overall a lot cuter and braver. Not so much "attitude".
Maybe I just don't like Zoran's new accent (or her ridiculous clothes! What is that? Half a skirt over white leggings? Image)

End rant. :P (sorry Astro Forever! ;)

Well, throughout all of the episodes shown in the 2000 series, that Zoran appeared in, I think she was known to get Astro in trouble a little less than Uran.
She would've caused more dangerous things if more episodes were created... <_<

In some eps, Astro tries to act as nice as possible to her, and tries to not get her into trouble...but Zoran always thought her ideas of doing fun things that might sound cool, but gets caught with it, and never does it again.

Remember when she was first created?

Astro didn't seem to believe Zoran, about that huge Robot Bird she saw last night.
Well, at first... ;)
But near the middle of the ep, he ended up beliveving her.
Dr. O'shay never told Astro about Zoran's special ability, having the ability of talking to animals, and able to know how their feeling, until near the end. :P
