Participate in the New Astroboy / The Astroboy Resurrection Project

Postby Daichi » 17 years ago

Recruiting

Currently under development is the largest Astroboy fan project ever, a fully loaded RPG featuring handdrawn cut scenes by the talented Yumi-Chu, a story combining the best of past and present, and a vast array of special features to spice up gameplay.
The official title has not yet been decided, so we are calling it by its project name, "The Astroboy Resurrection Project.

Which brings me to the point of my post.

I, the director, am looking for people to help us make this dream a reality. The reason for its title is because I want to "resurrect" Astroboy and introduce new fans to this amazing story!

No matter what you do to help, every bit is highly appreciated. I can't do it by myself.
Whether you want to help me create the story or write scripts, create graphics and sprites, contribute music and sound effects, lend your voice to one of the characters, or simply give your input as to what you think would make a great Astroboy game, I'll take anything you want to give.

Please help make the Resurrection Project a reality!!

Thank you all.

About the Game

Title: No official title has been chosen. Currently called by its project name.
Platform: PC
Genre: RPG
Required OS: Windows XP +
Data Size: N/A

The Party Members are as follows.

Astro - Astro is closer to his 1983 persona, more childish and open. His class is the basic Hero type, and he learns a balanced array of techniques.

Atlas/Daichi - Atlas holds a balance of his 2003/1983 personas, with a bit of a 2003 bias due to the fact that he has that background story. His class is the Dragoon type, giving him mainly physical attacks with many special techniques.

Klaus - Klaus is a oneshot character who appeared in "Undercover", a 2003 episode. His class is basically the quintessential Black Mage type, meaning he has great attack magic skills but little physical strength.

Nuka - Nuka did not appear in 2003 but in 1983. Some of you may know her as Nicki, or something like that. Her class is the White Mage, giving her mainly healing skills but also the capability to learn powerful Holy abilities.

Rag - Rag, like Nuka, did not appear in 2003. I believe his English name is "Ricky". He is a rare male Summoner, and can bring powerful mechanical entities into battle.

Pero - Pero did not appear in either anime. In fact, I'm sure most of you do not even know him. He appeared long ago in the original manga, in a story entitled "The Hot Dog Corps". His class is the Knight, meaning he has no magic but very powerful physical attacks.

Epsilon - Epsilon, after much deliberation, will appear in his/her female 2003 persona. Her class is what's known in Final Fantasy as the Blue Mage, meaning that she can learn enemy attacks if hit by them.

If you are interested in voice acting, please submit an audio file (.wav, .mp3., etc.) containing your audition. Also, choose a few preferred characters.
I haven't yet found actors, so the characters are all still up for grabs, although Heroes-Cross may get the part of Astro.
The list of characters has not yet been compiled, and will be posted soon. However, know that you can select any of the allies and most of the main characters and villains from both 2003 and 1983.

I'm really looking hard for writers and people interested in story development as well, so if you're interested, please let me know.

Well, that's all for now. Thanks again.

I'm afraid I do not have the kind of talent you are looking for, but good luck! :)

Ep 32 Hot Dog Corps was excluded from the English language version, but I have the entire JLV on DVD. Moreover, I have taken notes on every 1963 episode. Although I am quite busy writing reviews for the 1963 & manga stories, I offer myself as a source of answers. :D

I also took 2 semesters of C++, but that was long ago. :p

I have a full knowledge of C/C++, with strong experience with multi-platform. Therefore I can write mostly everything that's not too complicated on any platform you want, be it Windows 2000, XP, GNU/Linux, *BSD, maybe Mac OS X if I can find a way to develop something on it ;)
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

So, you saw the original anime episode? Are there many differences between it and the manga? And are there any 1963 stories/non-anime stories that you would suggest?

Now, I'm not very great with programming, so I've been using an aide that allows the user a graphical interface rather than having to manually program the entire thing. I would hate to ask someone to program it by hand... Thank you, though.
