(Geez Jeffbert, kids were lucky in your day; twelve cents for a comic book!)

Gold Key Publishing, 1965. It was made by the same people who made the 60's/70's Looney Tunes comics. I've seen two or three pages of it, and it's simply an Americanized version of the manga story where Astro goes on the cruise ship and discovers a centipede robot made of many individual robots. One big difference was that the villain's brother (whom was previously a young boy) looked just like him and they both got arrested in the end.

Its the Gadem story; was that the only issue published?

BTW, 1st class postage, Cokes & candybars=10 cents
1/2 pound Hershy Bars = 48 cents; I know, because I ate many of them!
McDonalds had a slogan, something like hamburger, fries, and Coke, for <$1!
VW Beetles=$1999; yes, everthing cost less money, but money was worth more & harder to come by than it is now. So, it is relative. My weekly allowance was $.50; When I went off to tech school, I lived on $10/week; bought gas for car & whatever else I wanted. :p

Could you scan a few images from it for me? I would like to see the major characters.

To the best of my knowledge, there were only two American AB comics published in the 60s. This Gold Key edition, and another by March of Comics (which is way more expensive).

Until I find the incentive to camp out on a larger scanner, this is all I have:

That seems like little more than a comic version of the Fred Ladd translation /English dub of the B&W. Thanks!

Here's some information re: the Astro Boy comics published in the 1960s here in the USA! First, yes an Astro Boy comic was published by K & K Publications in 1965! Using the Gold Key imprint they were known for their adaptations of popular TV shows of the day! The Gold Key "Astro Boy" contains two stories! The first is an adaptation of the TV series episode, "Gangor, the Monster!" The other is an all new story not adapting any episode entitled, "Attack of the Mud People!" It involves Astro Boy fighting the "Mud people" created by the Terror twins in their plot to rule the world! The Terror Twins resemble something out of the old Milton the monster TV show! The artwork was by an artist better known for his work on the Mandrake the Magician comic strip! His name is Harold "Fred" Fredericks! He also did the artwork on the other Astro Boy comic also published by K & K Publications as one of a series of give-a-way-comics used as promotional gifts in different types of stores (i.e., shoe stores--buy a pair of shoes and a get a free comic book! ) The series was known as "Boys' and Girls' March of Comics" and Astro Boy was featured in issue# 285 published in 1966! These give-a-ways were also sold to retail stores in a comic book bag or package of six comics for the price of $.49! The story featured in that issue is titled, "The Day Astro Boy Lost his Powers!" The plot involves Astro Boy being turned into many duplicates of himself, each less powerful than the original! But never fear Astro Boy is restored beating the villains, who used this dastardly device to wreak havoc on the world! The comic book also features an Astro Boy crossword puzzle and a connect-the-dot picture of Astro Boy fighting crime! Also Now comics featured an Astro Boy story in an issue of their "Speed Racer" comic! (Speed Racer# 17, Feb., 1989): The story was written and drawn By Brian Thomas who took over both chores in the last few issues of the series! It featured a still from the movie "The Colossus of New York" in its story of how Astro Boy is not radioactive! (After all he is supposed to have an atomic-powered generator for a heart!) Any way I hope you guys find this interesting!
