[Astro Forever]

I added the French first names of Astro's parents in episode #5 (Gédéon and Suzanne) because that's where they first appear, even though their names are first said in later episodes.

I haven't noticed any difference between these two.

Can/French -
Pecos Pete doesn't mention the plane crash that brought him to Astro.
He doesn't trip on the dead animal nor does he strokes it.
When Astro tells the story of the desert, he talks about the plane crashes but the viewer doesn't get to watch them. Astro's plane crash isn't shown at all either.
Atlas tells Astro that when he will have conquered Earth, his first duty will be to forbid humans to start useless wars against each others. :wacko: (I guess the censors didn't want him to be too evil, but it's so ridiculous! <_< )
There is no flashback to Japanese episode #2, with a damaged young Atlas on the table with Livian's remains around him.
Livian speaks of Guiss/Giss ( ), who made Atlas in a way that he would act evilly, but without mentioning the Omega factor.
There is no real fight between Astro and the robot trying to prevent him from escaping. Astro makes him fall and that's it.

For the remainder of the episode, it's easier to write what's left than what was cut. Atlas points his light sabre towards Astro, but nothing gets out of it. Astro is suddenly dirty for no reason, falling head first towards the Earth, sees Atlas coming and hits Atlas, who falls off his horse. Astro flies behind Atlas and hit his sabre with his laser. Astro throws his sabre at Astro, who avoids it. Atlas gets back on his horse, goes towards Astro who flies away and… and nothing, Atlas isn't shown again and the crystal castle is going away with Astro staring at it. From Astro's escape of the castle to the end of the episode, there are 90 seconds! Apparently, without his sabre, Atlas is totally powerless!

Edit: hmmm, I thought I should link to DrFrag's summary of the episode for anybody who might visit here having seen only the French or Canadian version, and would like to know how the episode is supposed to end.

What do I think of the 3 Series?

The 1960's - Campy, funny.

The 1980's - (English Version DVD release)The vocals, sorry to say, even for a kids show are just abysmal! It's like the cast were reading from the cue cards to War and Peace...no emotion, boaring results.

Sony 2003 - Animation is awesome, story-line excellent, English vocals were not that bad.

I'm skipping The White Planet and A Robot President for now because I've yet to watch them to write down the characters. I don't remember any difference between the US version and Manga's (there might be some and it's just that I forgot, because those aren't among my favorite episodes). I haven't seen the French version in years, so I don't have much to say anyway.

At the beginning, the rocket crashes on Earth, then there is the fire and Goliath's hands coming out of the hole. End of introduction. Goliath isn't shown getting up and shooting everywhere before passing out.
When Goliath searches for his head, he attacks only the first robot, the one with the helicopter propeller on the head. Then it cuts to Inspector Gumshoe saying that Goliath attacked 12 robots.
Inspector Gumshoe not only wants Astro "out of here", he wants to arrest him after Goliath got away, but Chief McClaw talks him out of it!
There is no bidding of cannons before the head's.
Oddly, Skunk gets involved in the bidding of the head (instead of mumbling to himself), before throwing his hat as a signal to steal the head.
Skunk doesn't ask Goliath to do him a favor while they are in the street.
After Astro hastily left home to join Goliath, his dad says that "those good old spankings had some good"!
Skunk doesn't yell at his men because they didn't destroy Astro and Goliath, but instead because they shouldn't have come back to the hideout right away. He says he saw a police helicopter and fears they are going to be discovered.
The shooting between Daddy Walrus and Skunk's gang has been cut.
There is no battle between Daddy Walrus and Skunk after Skunk gets out of the tank. Skunk thought Astro had been destroyed, so he was surprised to see him. After he gets out of the tank, he says they'll meet again and he's not seen again in the episode.
Astro takes the head and flies away to give it back to Goliath. Elefun tries to talk to him out of it but Astro says he promised it and can't break a promise to a friend. The episode ends as Astro is flying away with the head. There is no battle against Astro and Goliath and Goliath isn't destroyed.

As I understand it, Japanese lacks the 'V'; hence, 'Livian' is pronounced "Libian'; but I have not taken note of the pronounciation of 'Walpurgis.'

As I understand it, Japanese lacks the 'V'; hence, 'Livian' is pronounced "Libian'; but I have not taken note of the pronounciation of 'Walpurgis.'

'Walpurgis' would be 'ワルプルギス' ('WARUPURUGISU') in japanese Katakana writing. The syllable 'WA' ('ワ') is common and gets used many times. The consconant 'R' is being spelled as a cross between L & R.
'GI' gets pronounced like the first two letters in 'gear'.

I spotted the consonant 'V' being used in Katakana a few times written as 'ヴ' in front of a following vowel; a combination of 'ウ' (U) and " added to the character's above right, indicating the different pronounciation.
