The Battle Angel feel of the movie

I just had to put this up. It feels like the movie has some simillar lines with Battle Angel, the 1980's OAV about a robot girl trying to save the boy she's in love with from his suicidal quest to get to a city of advanced technology in the sky called Zollum.



Bellow Zollum lies a wasteland where the "undesired" meak out an existance from the refuse thrown from the advanced civilization above. Just noting the irony.

I am in the midst of reading "God of Comics," which notes that Tezuka borrowed heavily from other sources; so, it would be no surprise that his successors retained that habit.
