In one version, either the 60s or the manga, Atom received his kid sister for his birthday present.

The fictional DOB is the one they celebrated with this new series.

Yeah.. I just downloaded "Uran the Tomboy" from Anapan... Loved it.[/b]

Wait a minute, was not the occasion here the New Year? You yourself use a frame from this episode, with Atom in a kimono kneeling in front of (what I think is) Tezuka's Firebird. :o

My mistake! I assumed you had a subtitled version! The FX bootleg has the occasion as the new year, & I think the dubbed version also makes that the occasion.

What do you give a robot for his birthday? In Atom's case, he virtually lacks desire, except for acceptance among others. He has no plans for the future. Try asking him what he wants to be when he grows up (See the hijacked airship)! He neither dreams while sleeping, nor does he daydream about possibilities for the future. He has memories that are triggered by similar events (3-legged race, etc.), and has curiosity about those memories. But no real ambition. If it were I, I would give him the ability to dream.

I think it's for his birthday...

This is the part from "Uran the Tomboy" where Dr Elephun(yes 80's series) brings Astro his NEW YEARS PRESENT!!! AKA Uran.....I don't know if its a bootleg version on the FTP Server or not but thats the one I have....and it shows the new year celebrations of the humans before DR Elephun arrives so I just thought that it would be the same throughout the versions.....
But I stand corrected by the Birthday thing....If you see the page I posted about Astroboy coming to australian payTV the page stated he turned 50 last year <_< I was misinformed but I do stand by the fact that he is older than 1

Jeffbert's right, Uran was a New Years present. Remember Dr Elefun was trying to finish her before midnight? And Daddy Walrus rang up drunk wanting to party with him? :D

For a birthday present, I'd give him an energy cassette. Or maybe a six-pack of Transformers energy cubes, although he might be a little young to drink.
