Just think of it like James Bond.....I LOVE Sean Connery, Roger Moore & Peirce Brosnan As Bond, But they are individual movies in there own respect and each have aspects that the others don't. I still love them all.

Regarding Bond, I think that only Sean Connery had the physique needed to portray the guy. Brosnan is a great actor, & I enjoy his portayal of Bond, but he is just not as convincing as Connery. He is just not built heavily enough. Kind of like Kirk Douglas playing Oddysius. The book discribes him as having massive shoulders, and while Douglas is a noteworthy actor, his body just does not fit the bill. These guys are just too skinny to be convincing. If Arnold Schwarzennegger turned down the role of Hercules and they offered it to Jim Carry, nobody would take the film seriously. That contrast is an exaggeration, but I think it illustrates my point.

I agree with all your points. In fact, that's pretty much my full list of complains with the new series!
But I'm so happy with the animation and just to see new episodes that it far outweighs any negatives for me.

yEA I have been video taping the new episodes, It's great a new generation will get to love astro too.

Still trying to collect the 80's videos as cheaply as possible!

I have a growing collection of models, and stuff from ebay as there is nothing down here in Tasmania!

I have another 2 weeks of college, after which I intend to read I. Asimov's robot stories, several other classic literature tales, and continue learning Japanese. Since the jerks at K-WB ruined the dub, and I suppose that Cartoon Network will continue using that annoying teenage voice for Atom, I see no alternative. Atom fans must learn to speak and understand Nihongo.

Totally agree. When I saw the first episodes of the 80s, before in English, and then in Japanese, although my vocabulary in Japanese is roughly 5 words, I was annoyed by all the mess that was done: half of the scenario has been thrown away!!! :angry:
No such thing was done to the new serie though (at least to my knowledge), but since they remove also content that is not even violent, it goes from defendable censure to a total wreckage
And I don't event speak about the audio/subtitles differences, I haven't been able to see by myself.
WHY? WHY do you evil editors do that ?
