However,  I favor the 60s because I remember the "Go, go, go!" & the theme music's tune.
 It has the precious memories for me.

I grew up watching the 60's series, and after watching the episodes now [on my DVD vol. 1, the only set of 60's Astro I have so far], I think they have held up very well [after 40+ years], and I think they would put the 2003/04 episodes to shame. Like I said about the 80's episodes, I need to see two or three more to get a better feel of how Astro Boy was written and presented to the audience.[/b][/quote]
I take it that you have the raw Japanese version.

Yeah, i know its not a good idea to start defending things when you dont know the opposition. But you have to admit, in all respects the new astroboy is pretty damn good, and definately didnt let the name down.

No, I have the "bootleg" DVD in English. The ones usually bought at comic book stores and flea markets.

It has the following episodes:

"The Birth Of Astro Boy"
"The Terrible Time Gun"
"One Million Mammoth Snails"
"The Monster Machine"

And who did the voice of Astroboy and Kimba? Non other than Billy Richards, the voice of Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Sadly Billy passed away in 2000.

I think it might be a generational pref in some cases, many of us older x'ers long for the old days of Saturday morning cartoons and kids blocks on the old major 3 and 99 dial televisions of old.

Cable does keep some of that old tradition alive but sadly Saturday mornings now a days on the networks are dead, filled with programs I don't let my own kids watch because they're dumb minded, lifeless and ignorant programs. Guess that's what you get from idiots who think "real" TV is worth watching.

That rant gone I still watch all my Kimba and Astro tapes in the morning with my kids.

?....ok, got that wrong...I think it was Richards who did the brief mid-1980's showing of the 80's Astroboy in America then. It made that short run in 1985 on WLVI 56.

I think I would've enjoyed the new series more if they showed it in some kind of normal order.

I haven't seen enough 60's episodes, but I've read quite a few manga. I like the Atom from the mangas the best.
