Actually I like all of the 80's eps. However the one less favourite episode of mine would be
'The Snow Leopard'.
This ep features some minor drawing styles IMO. It will occur to you if you take a look at Astro.
The story is quite interesting tho.
Which is the worst Astro episode?

My least favourite episode would have to be "Deep City" from the 2003 series. For a start, it had absolutely nothing to do with Deep City. We saw, what, a photo of it? Then it was about trees going crazy with unconvincing looking roots. I saw an episode of CardCaptors years ago where a tree grew crazy and took over a house and the way the growth was animated looked awesome. The roots in Deep City looked absolutely pathetic in comparison. More like ugly worms. There was also blatant repeating of footage, no mention of what the rest of the city was thinking, and no explanation of why Astro had to destroy the robots cutting down the trees. Why not ask the police or whoever to shut them down? And the bit about Astro reading the tree's mind was ridiculous.
I quite agree with that (especially with the somewhat strange ability of Astro to talk to a tree), however I found in that episode an ecological message I had never seen in any other movie, from Tezuka or not. The bad guy, who cut off money for anti-pollution systems because they were too expansive, pointed that the consequences of the pollution would be for much later, at a time were he would not be here anymore.
Here is one quote from him: "A little pollution here and there is not a great deal. Anyway that will be our children's problems, not ours."
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

Yeah, usually they don't admit it openly. Just like in real life.
That reminds me, I saw a great road sign this morning. It said "FORM 1 LANE", but someone had neatly grafittied it to read "FORM 1 PLANET".

The whole 2003 series was like this, now that I think about it. The Greatest Robot in the World / The Rise of Pluto was totally butchered.
I think that the arrival of the conservative '00s made this possible....

Well, we'll have to live with it: Tezuka's tragicomic endings on shonen comics have gotten old-fashioned. The hatred of huamnity Tezuka showed has been changed into an opthimistical view of it and its natural goodness.
I think, too, that Denku's chapter is the worst of all. Too optimisthic, too "boy-scoutish", too un-tezukian to be believable.

The new Black Jack series is bloodless, without any of the graphic surgury scenes so abundant in the earlier series that is available in English. What is more, Norse Necktall, whose face is contorted by his constantly smoking cigars has retained the contorted face, but lost his cigars.

IMO,most of the 03 series is bad.one that really annoys me,however,is "lost in the outback".the BG with all the bent and tilted biulds is so damn DISTRACTING! also, when was astro stupid enough sell boon out.i mean come on,if someones looking for boon, and he's jus tbeen told boon is an escaped criminal, are you gonna go about flapping yer yaps about shouting out where he is? me-thinks not.
yeah,i too have a deviant art acount ^.^ pop in some time to enjoy the fine art of rubishness!
