I imagine it must be because we have a law here that says that if there is French on the DVD, then the box cover has to have some French on it.
It's called National Pride. B) [/b][/quote]
Oops, I think I didn't express myself clearly.
I am actually happy about the law, and also happy that I don't see things like "Box 1" on the
boîtes like what I saw on the latest French-only DVD release of Astroboy in... France!

What I am angry about is how the international companies are choosing not to include French so they won't have to produce a different cover for the Québec market. It happened again recently. I bought my father a classic movie that definitely has been dubbed in French, but there was no French soundtrack on it, only subtitles. My father don't understand English. I knew he'd enjoy the movie anyway so I bought it but it's irritating and frustrating.
Same thing with video games. From what I heard, there are French versions in France, but our hardware or whatever is different here, so we get everything in English. Some say we should have a law that would require companies to provide a French version to us as well if a French version somewhere else is available. Why not? If that's what it takes to make things change...! I know we are a small market, but I would think we are big enough for the sales to still make it profitable.
