Yeah, mine's an old one, so it works through the printer port instead. It's amazing what the homebrew developers did with such a slow CPU. I'm using a skinnable operating system called Pogoshell, and even have a free pda program and notepad-like program on it so I can save notes and other text data to the savegame area. Best $200 I ever spent. I've played through tons of old RPGs over the years during bus rides to work and lunch breaks. Now you can get carts for under $70 that let you use CompactFlash cards (digital camera memory) so putting a whole movie on it would be easy with room for a couple hundred old games while you're at it.

I'm still debating about getting one of the new portable consoles. I think my alternative plans are better tho I have a couple months to considder other options before I can afford anything anyway. I want to get a Gameboy Micro with a GBA SD Supercard to upgrade/replace my old GBA-SP and Flashcart (the new micros have a comparatively long battery life so I can use it for a few hours or more without recharge) and then saving up for an OQO Model 01+ which would blow any other portable out of the water. Still, the games coming out for both consoles look really cool and any of them would work fine as a backup MP3 player for long bus rides when my Pocket PC runs outta juice.

...Yeah, I'm a portable junkie.

Why not look into a GamePark32, they seem to be all the rage with portable retro gamers, mostly because it runs on Linux and can emulate just about anything going. Plus it takes flash cards and can play DivX media and so on. It also sounds like it would suit you better. The PSP can emulate but Sony's firmware updates often try to patch that up

Also theres a thing called a Play-yan you can import from Japan, a cart that takes flash cards too and can be used on a GBA and DS to play movies and MP3's. Though for movies you need proper encoding and stuff

Hope this helps you anapan XD

I'm more a DS girl myself, I respect the PSP and all but I prefer the DS and it's features
