Many of the robot characters in Tezuka's manga are supposed to be so human like that the human characters in the manga sometimes can't tell they ARE robots. Half the time this is true for Atom, but humans can often tell he is a robot (or maybe they just KNOW he is by reputation?) Tezuka draws his characters so cartoon like that his readers don't have a clue. In 'Pluto' we the audience readers see the characters the way the OTHER manga characters see them, a VERY interesting concept! (Tezuka did some manga with more realistic artwork, "Adolf" is draw this way even though he has some star system characters such as Lamp in it.)"SOPikaMeowMeow" wrote:I loved this manga! The way the artist was able to redraw the characters, and still have them resemble realistic people is amazing. The story was also great.

I never thought of it like that. That's a really interesting concept. There were some times when I got confused myself as to who was and who wasn't a robot. I liked how the artist redrew Gesicht (spelling?). I actually forgot that he was a robot when I first started reading it because of how human he looked. It's really quite interesting.
It looks to me like Tezuka tried to give Adolf a more realistic look while still keeping it in his style with the big eyes and such.

I really don't think a live action Pluto would be all that great to be honest, and I don't mind when CG is used for special effects in these movies. But 100# rendered CG animation really ticks me off, really I become quite angry when I see it.
If they were going to make this into animation it would be beautiful if it was done how modern anime is animated, which can be so stunningly beautiful at times. Granted CG is used to render the animation now, but it still looks like it's cell-based, and that's all I care about.

That's all we need, a remake of the ORIGINAL live action Astro Boy from the 50's (I've seen a few clips of it on youtube, and some of the early Godzilla movies were better made!).
