Wow, what a great answer. NOT.
Dude, instead of telling us what book to hunt down and order and go through hell to find just for one insignificant answer, why don't you just damn well tell us what the books say?

* reads my Dutch version so proud *
Wait..doesn't he just explains simply to clarify why Astro looks a bit to have horns when it comes down to a right or left angle? 0__o

Maybe i get it wrong but the page Tezuka just explains some of his `drawing` habbit/mistakes` like why sometimes Astro has 4 fingers and the next he has 5,
another thing was if Astro turns his face sideway ( if he looks at the right or left and your looking straight at him ) it then looks like Astro's `hornswhatever` are on the same spot/space/line together while if he looks away there is obvious some distant between his `two horns`...its hard to explain, but i don't see how Tezuka explains why Tenma made Astro's hair different from them.
since my manga is in Dutch
it be nice if Jeffbert post a comic panel of that page about it, for the non manga readers of Astroboy here.
But untill now Daichi's Theory sounds 90 procent cannon.

I already use images from manga in my reviews, & I hope the owners of the images take no offense to my using them w/o permission. I am not about to post an entire page. How can you call yourself an Astroboy fan if you do not even own the manga? You can buy these from Amazon sellers for a fraction of the $10 price for 'new' ones directly from Amazon.
But to answer your q, Tezuka simply simply tells us that Atom's spikes "never appear to overlap" (vol. 2, p. 105). There is a scene in the 80s vers. in which Atom is searching for something, turning his head left and right, & the rear spike flips from left to right suddenly as the front spike moves slowly left to right. I think somebody made an animated gif & put it in the appropriately named thread.

WHAT!?!?!?!?
BECAUSE I CAN'T AFFORD TO BUY THEM ALL YOU ARROGANT JERK!!
You're a 50-year-old man, of course you can afford to order whatever you want. But a 17-year-old in college, one who recently got robbed at that? I haven't got a cent to spare!!
How dare you say such a thing to me!? I'm a better Astro fan than you'll ever be, no matter how many manga I own!!

Ok, I admit that it was unreasonable to assume that all good Astroboy fans would have the 23 volumes of manga, esp the whippersnapper college students like you.
You think I am wealthy because I am 50? I wish! & how was I to know you were robbed? You need to lighten up, why take everything so personally? If you work even part time, you probably make as much as SSDI pays me.

I will not even dignify with an answer your comment about the best fan.

Again, lighten up!

Hikari Tail, I am sorry I seemed mean.
the quistion is not about Astro spikes its about why Astro's hair/head is made differently from Tobio's
I did not realize that there was a difference between the shape of Tobio's & Atom's hair.
