Yeah... I refuse to support the dub version. I usually don't get like this about dubs but this particular one really ruined it for me. I personally have no shame in buying bootlegs if the official versions don't give me what I want.

Fair enough. I too would love to see the full version in Japanese, but its just so hard to find that its not worth doing, unless you have some money to spent and want to try a bootlegged version.

It really is a pity that there was never a proper version of it in English, but there isn't much we can do.

No, there isn't. I wouldn't mind the bad dub if they gave us the Japanese version as an alternative like every OTHER anime on DVD does but they don't even do that

What never fails to depress me about Astro Boy 2003, is how it has just as big a chance of getting a dignified release as Macross: Do You Remember Love. When was the last time someone released an anime with only one audio option, 2005?

Sadly, it was produced by a company that called it a "cartoon" thus giving them the "right" to pull it to pieces and make a mess of it.
Just as well it wasn't grabbed up by 4kids.... *shudders* pity it wasn't done by funimation, they do a great job with their dvd's and always have dual audio (as far as I know)

So, that means there is no chance to get the japanese version? I saw the English version recently, I knew it was cut, but I wanted to hear the dubs... I "like" them, honestly. I was interested in Tenma dub... it was pretty nice. I have the whole LatinAmerican dub and it's ok too, but Tenma's voice is so... deep =P. (and sexy, that's weird xD).

They cut Tobio's death scene, isnt? o,o :/

Yes, sadly, of all the scenes I wanted to see that was it. I have yet to be able to find a clip of it anywhere so as far as Tobio's 2003 death goes, I'm in the dark (there are a couple of pictures of it on here somewhere)

I agree. The whole premise of any version of the Astroboy story is that he was modelled upon this human boy who tragically gets killed in a traffic accident. All those flashbacks were meant to lead up to this significant event. Even if they wanted to cut out all reference to death in the dub, this was the one exception they should have made. It just doesn't make sense to Astro's origins. They made it look kind of hazy. The first time I watched it I thought "So was Tobio actually killed at all and if not then what happened to him?"

Because they think the only people interested are kids and that kids are stupid so they need everything dumbed down. That and I think they wanted to suck all the emotion out of it and just sell it as a mindless action series
