Well, it was always pronounced more like "ooh-ran", which is in turn closer to the Japanese pronounciation of Uranium. Atom and Uran(ium), working with Tezuka's atomic theme.

Barely related, but my brother and I have pretty much blended either pronounciation and call her by "you-ran". Does anyone else do this?

I think it is more complicated than that, Nora. In the 2000s, he doesn't actually enjoy putting Astro/Toby in pain, he wants to put him through trials. It is similar to the Sith philosphy in Star Wars: the strongest is the most fitted.
