Hey, after I scan issue nineteen and make the final two reviews (Tawashi Bus Hat already scanned the final issue for me), I'm just going to keep putting them up in this thread to conserve space.

Also, when this is all done, I'm thinking of maybe just selling my whole collection of the series on eBay or to anybody here who's interested. I've got issues 2-12 and 14-19 to let go, and if anyone wants to take them in, just drop me a PM.

There's more of these? Are they any worse then the previous issues you've posted?

I don't know if you've seen my other reviews, but yeah, some of them are completely god-awful. (Here's a directory on my site.) I only have two more issues to get through, and I'll hopefully have them all uploaded by tomorrow at noon.

Now, ladies and gentlemen, I present the series' second-last issue. It took an hour longer to upload than it should have because of Photobucket's idiotic album resetting in the upload stage, the inability to move pictures in order, but I didn't stop...this issue is probably one of my favourites. If it were a Steacy issue causing this much trouble, I would have Kenshiro-punched the computer and hid in a hole. That's not the cause here.

This story features Astro trying to defend the Institute of Science from a motley team of guerilla robots sent by Cacciatore, all the while Elefun struggles to prove to the Institute's commitee that robots like Astro deserve to exist. Right now I'd like to collect all my notes on it...

1) Right on the first page, we get another glimpse of Boynton in Thomas' style, and it makes me wish a lot more that he'd been the initial artist. I don't know if Dimpsey would've written the first seven issues if Thomas were on the staff, but Crazy Boynton would have been a lot more enjoyable if he didn't look like feet. Maybe it would actually make me feel bad for Boynton if he were adorable, rather than wanting to sit far away from him...

2) Check out how Thomas draws Cacciatore/Hamegg! I swear, it's utterly adorable, and no one should ever have such a reaction of "d'awwww" to Hamegg. But it's happening. I swear, everybody here is so cute ajhdgkjdsh

3) I don't know who Cacciatore is on the phone with. I may have to email Thomas one more time and ask him who he intended it to be.

4) One page 21, you may notice an African-American woman sitting in the Institute council. This is incredible because not only has the last time a non-Caucasian character appeared been issue two for one page, but any powerful woman in Steacy's run would look like Grandma Giles.

5) He actually makes his own robots! No more taking a hideous, blocky, mechanically-impossible thing and making it vomit catchphrases!

EDIT: Issue twenty is now available. I will now proceed to pass out from relief. http://s333.photobucket.com/albums/m362/astroNOWcomics/Issue20/

I just got done reading 19 & 20. The art is still pretty bad, but not as bad as the older comics. Hamegg was drawn pretty horribly(EDIT: in the earlier comics), Astro seems to be not as fat but in one page he looked like a toddler. The part where he's walking out of the school building he seems to have a tiny body with a huge head. Overall these comics are pretty bad and they actually make me love the 09 movie even more. Compared to that, this comic series did take the word "Americanized" to a pretty big level. But they're about on the same suck level as the 09 movie comics. Looking forward to your upcoming review.

That part made me aww at the cuteness. It reminded me when Tezuka in his own comic compared different Astro Boy looks and said people prefered Astro looking small, and he drew him in a very similar running pose with very short legs. It's very cute.

I have no issue with how Hamegg was drawn here, at first sight he's probably the character that looks the most like Tezuka drew him. Ochanomizu in particular is really cute and that's something I never thought I'd say. Brian Thomas's style is much much better than the movie comics.

Well, this is the only thing you've said that I can really disagree with. Allow me to put it in perspective...

Although I guess I'm defending Thomas's art more because the whole product seems less like I'm ironing my face. Either way, the more I enjoy something, the harder it is to write an interesting article, but I'm sure I'll have something wild composed by this Sunday.

Sorry for the confusion, I forgot to mention that I was talking about the earlier version. The later drawing is an improvement obviously; sometimes I make mistakes when I type, sorry about that.

Nah, it's cool...I can see you were trying to say that in your first message (i.e. "was drawn pretty horribly"), and I sort of feel ridiculous, too.

But don't worry, no harm done.

I'd love to see you review the manga actually, maybe the 2003 manga I just love the art in that.

Plus your sense of humor in reviews just cracks me up everytime, like that Atlas and Astro battle one you did, but I'm saying no more on that.
