you have your opinions and i have mine, lets respect the other
also the Now comics,(they didn't do well in selling terms)
Observations: Tenma & Hoshie
Don't worry; I wasn't offended by AG's post. I've been around these comics for so long that I'm used to new people reacting to them with a loud gag reflex. (Although, it should be known that the comic technically counts as a usable alternate continuity, illegal or not.)

In before somebody else points out that everybody involved in this discussion is a teenager, and that I can draw.
I don't know...special story-wise, Hoshie and Tenma's relationship seemed a little lopsided, but that's mostly because fragile, weak and doomed female characters do nothing for me. Michi, however, was a little more badass...

This has been lovingly housed on my harddrive for three years.

Did Hoshie just karate chop Tenma off the stairs? Or is that Michi? Cause It'd rock if Hoshie was kicking some butt like, goodbye sweet housewife, hello 'no you do the washing up!' lady.
But on the subject of Hoshie, when I think of her character, I just see her as an insert to back story Tezuka had never worked on at the start. Since in the beginning it was just a father greiving his son and building a robot to replace him, then Astro quickly getting sold to the circus. It didn't linger on Tenma's life or any details of Toby's mom.
I just don't think she was included at the time because Tezuka never thought about her. I mean, haven't you ever written a story or a comic then afterwards thoughts 'wait, why didn't i put that in?' or 'i forgot to mention that?'.
As for her personalty and how she and Tenma were, honestly i believe it's however you look at it, it's different for everybody. Considering Astro Boy's had so many adaptations, Hoshie entitled for changing on how we think of her, right? o_O

That was a little offending. I've known many people, who are by far younger than me, who have done very professional art before and those people I respect a lot.
Not to mention one of my comics I've been making is a tribute to Tezuka, I consider myself still a teen and I find that my art isn't as bad as the Now! Comics.
The ORIGINAL Now! Comics had very decent art. It was only the more recent ones where the quality began to drop.
Edit: @Alittleacorn: That's Atom's robotic mother, she bares a resemblance to Mitchy/Hoshie.
