I, for 1, will not need those photos, as I hope to have the book by February. :D

Yet, I will need much time just to digest what I already bought. :astro:

Dr. Jerk, the theme song is known as both because in essence it is a march.

Jeffbert, the book is called "complete book" for a reason. Not only does it detail every episode of the manga series and the first two anime series with pictures and short synopses of each episode, it does in effect list characters from all the versions with pictures, names and a brief description of each character. They also include a short bio for different artists involved with the original manga and anime series as well as a bio for Mari Shimizu, the original voice of Atom. It does list staff and cast for each anime series. It also includes a history of Atom in print with coverage of the many reprints published of the Mighty Atom stories. It was meant to be an all inclusive history of Atom up to that time (2003) and has many pictures and images of Atom in different media as well as toys. It even includes a small section on the live action Atom series.

Just as I thought, this truly is the holy grail of any Atom collection. If only UDON would license this like they did with R20 and Battle Network Complete Works... *Patheticwishfulthinking...*

Thanks for sharing with us about this book, Astrobuddy.

Yes, I had considered buying this last summer, but instead bought a few smaller books that give what seems to be more details on the characters, though manga only. However, my real interest is in the ACTORS, as I like to list the full cast, at least as many actors as I can identify.

Thanks, ASTROBUDDY. Am I correct in thinking that you both have this, & can read Japanese? If so, will you give me translations of the pages or paragraphs I note?

A nice word from Dr. Jerk?! Your welcome. Unfortunately the main drawback to the book is it's in Japanese only which makes it hard to read (unless one is fluent in Japanese of course) and because of when it was issued, it does not include a episode guide for the 2003-4 TetsuWan Atom/Astro Boy series. Only a brief preview of the series. Still all and all it has great pictures!

I don't know if Dr. Jerk has this book, but as for translations, as I stated before I have a rudimentary knowledge of the language and can translate after A fashion using my different dictionaries. It does take me a long time to do so For ex. I wanted to be able read the synopsis of Ti-tan(ium)'s first story and it took me more than a week to translate what was just a few lines. Of course I can try to help where I can. (like when I translated the titles of the two dignataries in that other post about episode 183.)
BTW, you do know that the names of the actors are listed in the Tezuka World website and sometimes the IMDB has info on some of these actors, right?
Any way, as I said if I can help a fellow Astro Boy fan, well that's why I am ASTROBUDDY!

I received the set today & briefly flipped through it. There are 2 parts:
  1. the encyclopedia
  2. the CHRONICLES

THE ENCYCLOPEDIA has brief descriptions on the characters, more on the recurring ones, much less on the others. I cannot imagine that all the important characters from all the stories are covered, as no more than 4 or 6 pages are spent on them.

There are brief synopses of all (as far as I could tell) the stories in the manga & anime, except nothing about Jet Mars. These are much more extensive than the secondary characters' profiles. There was only a very brief mention of the live-action series.

There are whole pages on the voice actors, & I assume others involved in the making of the cartoons. There is a cartoon showing Tezuka looking in a mirror and his hair has certain tufts on it. I do not know if this occurs after sleeping or showering, but I expect to post an image of this soon.

The paper is fairly sturdy, & the images are small but clear.

THE CHRONICLES: Though I only flipped through this book, I did not a few frames that were new to me, though far fewer than I saw in the other sets. :( I do not know when I will actually make note of the content, though. The paper was very thin, & I am fearful of tearing a page.
