Should the 2009 film of instead been a video game?

Talk about all things Astro Boy!

The movie game is tolerable if you skip the cutscenes and could stop the voices coming from every enemy on screen... Hey, that actually sounds like a good idea for a game mod.

LOL Yeah, I skip the cutscenes too. I also always use the code that puts Astro in his classic outfit. (AKA naked XD)

Yeah me too. When you see him from afar he actually looks pretty cool like that. But then during the cutscenes from up close and he's all polygonal... Ew.

I especially love that stage near the end where at the start he flies through the building's roof (after Tenma rescues him).

EDIT: There it is :)

I went for Trip's robot costume in the game Enslaved, although I didn't go for an exact copy because I thought it was for revealing for Cora ^_^'

Glad you liked it, i actually enjoyed doing that picture lol.

The were a few parts of the movie game I liked, but I was really upset by it since it wasn't the best it could've been. What i really would've loved is something like a adventure/action/puzzle game. I really could've imagined that.

Say for puzzle, you could've had a level on Astro making those paper planes (say you need to find the objects you need to put them together and even asking Orrin for help. The same could've been done for a level on looking for robot parts with the kids on the surface.)

For action/adventure, a level escaping those planes firing at you after leaving the house (and i don't mean that 2D flying, but actual dodging and flying passed buildings). Imagine how epic that show down with the Peacekeeper could've been! o_o

And most importantly...EPIC GRAPHICS! I mean look at Final Fantasy or Resident Evil. the Astro Boy movie game looked like something from the very early ps2 game, it was bad, very baaaaaad. T.T if they could've, they could've made game Astro actually LOOK like movie Astro. And it would've been just wonderful to have a 3D environment you could explore.

Sigh, if only they'd had a bigger budget and lots of time ;_; they could've made one dreamy game! Just imagining it makes me want to cry

The graphics in the cut scenes leave VERY much to be desired and feel pretty rushed.

I agree. Sadly, movie based games rarely get that kind of budget or time to be worked on :(

I'm guessing that, if it was a game, there wouldn't be a film to go with it since, lets face it, all games released with movies are pretty (aka extremely) bad. Luckily, after I bought the '09 game my friend came over once and multiplayer mode isn't really bad, we managed to finish it within one week (even though we both terribly suck at gaming!) and after that, I haven't touched that game since.

Although (yes, this response is pretty bad since this thread is aimed at humour) if it was a game it would have an exceedingly complex plot. And although a complex plot is a great addition to any game, what people REALLY want to play is seeing Astro punch and kick his way through evil robots (despite the fact that its pretty much opposite what he would actually do) and a game like that, where, for example where you simply press buttons to make the plot progress seems a bit unappealing.

It would really be nice if the game was a RPG (role-playing game)/beat 'em up shooter (imagine exploring Metro City!)), at least in my personal opinion, the levels in the '09 game was really appealing. At LEAST they could put some power-ups in or something... :shifty:

That was HILARIOUS. Seriously, this thread is a winner.

This made me think of something: I said I didn't want a new Astro series, but an adaptation of Omega Factor as a one (or two)-season series would be AWESOME. The greatest tribute to Tezuka ever, with all the star-system there and tributes to a lot of his works. Even the post-credits scene could be included: a very fitting end.
