It's title is: JAPAN Astro Boy guide book: Zusetsu Tetsuwan Atomu (by Seiji Mori)

You can get it on eBay. All the information is there.

Thanks, ASTROBUDDY; I have volumes 1 & 2 of this series, Osamu Tezuka Character Encyclopedia, but these only cover the manga stories & characters. These extensive on the basic stories, etc., & Strangewings has been kind enough to translate some pages for me, but as he is rather busy, I will wait on this one. :astro:

Yes I also have Vol.# 1 of the character encyclopedia, as it pertains to Astro Boy. The Zusetsu (or Illustrated dictionary) of Mighty Atom has information similar to the Mighty Atom complete book, but also information not found in the complete book.

Though I found some info new, what I wanted most, was in the last section, which details ACTORS rather than CHARACTERs, though I did not even know they had these sections. In the 2 volumes I have, I learned the names & origins of 3 to 4 minor actors, & learned that MONSTER portrays KOICHI in W3. Though I might assume that the remaining 4 volumes could have info on 6 or so minor actors between them, I just cannot bother with them now. I can see myself pestering STRANGEWINGS for translations of any I might find, & I just do not want to burden him with this now. :p

I hope you do realize that the book known as the "Mighty Atom Illustrated Dictionary" (Zusetsu TetsuWan Atom) is not part of the Osamu Tezuka Character Encyclopedia series. Those are soft cover books published in 1998. The Zusetsu was published in 2003.

Thanks for the clarification, ASTROBUDDY; but, yes, I do understand that these are different publications. :p

Sorry for the RDT, but Uran looks very different in this version. Maybe he hadn't decided on a final look yet?

And I'm sure he remembered about Cobalt. Judging by how they treat him, along with Uran, in that particular story, though, you'd think he was still new (they even referred to him as such). Seeing this discussion again makes me wonder if this is even the same Cobalt... (but then, why rewrite the ending of the "Midoro Swamp" story arc?)

There ARE two designs of Cobalt - one where he looks like Atom's twin (which makes sense, if he were a "test" version). The other version has him taller, leaner, and spikes in different positions.

I would guess the "identical" design came first, and Tezuka later made Cobalt physically distinct from Atom for ease of idenitification.

It is very interesting to note that Tobio's hairstyle in "Japanese People from Space" actually matches Cobalt's spikes, not Atom's!

Tobio isn't draw with "spikes", his hair looks more like tufts of uncombed unruly batches. I should check the manga "ambassador atom" and see how he's drawn as well.

I think she's talking about the anime version.

Also, I was referring to Uran, not Cobalt. Even after his reintroduction, he looked like Atom. In some stories, he does seem to be thinner, and certainly taller. But I've yet to see any stories where he looks exactly as he does in the anime. I think I may have seen a page somewhere online (one of Dark Horse's volume previews) where he sort of looks like that, though.

I would actually like to see the whole ending to the story, not just the final page. They changed the whole entire thing; Cobalt wasn't even the hero after the edits had been made!
