Or maybe people talking about the movie simply know nothing and are making that up :p
I say, wait and see ;)
The real sign that someone has become a fanatic is that he completely loses his sense of humor about some important facet of his life. When humor goes, it means he's lost his perspective.

:( acording to this Dutch article, Tenma/Tanner...DIES!

in short, Astro's father ( not mentioned by name) dies shortly after Astro's birth,
Astro then can't candle it and looks for distraction that would end up him fighting robot gladiotors..

Why ? * cries *

Any confirmation on this? It could be true, but it could also be the articles writer not really understanding the story.

Anyway, it can still work if the father does die. Tenma generally just abandons Astro and disappears one way or another, so him dieing doesn't have to change that much. Likewise, he could just be thought to be dead after an accident, or have faked his death, or something else like that. No point in vilifying the whole film just yet.

That's not the only reason I say it's gonna suck. I have a whole list. -_-

Hey, I'll be all right with the movie as long as Tenma/Tanner lives to see the end of the film, everyone's in-character, the story is good and there's NO belch jokes or any of that lot.

And I have a sinking feeling there will be bathroom humour involved.

We are talking about a robot who has guns in his butt and do I need to mention the manga that had a scientist build a robot that peed Nitroglycerin?
I for one remain hopeful and open and can't understand how someone can label a movie as "crap" before we even see a coming attraction. I also recall these exact same comments when Transformers was just "concept art" and we thought Optimus Prime was going to be a Hummer.
The only thing i'm annoyed about is that the director that has done good movies before and was really into the story was replaced by a guy that doesn't really have much behind him but he may suprise us

i know but you got to understand , i'm like a huge Tenma fan, ..

to Fauna and Ninjatron, as i said before after this article i found another one ( english version ) that Astro was raised by his father in the Circus<<<<
and that `this unamed father` would die`
so like i'm confused..

The fact that Astro has guns in his booty only increases the odds of horrible bathroom humour.
That is, of course, unless they remove that power like in '03.

I don't know, I think an Astro figure that had little guns poke out of his bottom when you bend him down would be amusing. Add a RATTATATA sound and you've sold me XD
