As I recall, 1 taste of your blood is supposed to grant the one who tastes it the ability to undrestand birds' language. Or was it the abilty to read Meme's mind so that regardless of what he said, Seigfreid (Siegfried?) saw his intententions? #@*, I will need to check the book to be sure.

I'm sure Fafner's blood gave Siegfried the ability to understand birds. Now for the ability to hear the real thoughts of Meme (is it the right writting? in French and German it is Mime), I am unsure whether it came as a bonus or the bird said to Siegfried how to do it.
