THERE ARE THOSE WHO PLAINLY STATE WHAT THEY BELIEVE, & SOMETIMES WHY. Yet, to best change hearts & minds, one needs to draw them in with interesting stories containing characters with which the readers or viewers will identify & antagonists they will dislike. Gulliver's Travels was not merely entertainment, but, rather used to convey political or social messages; propaganda, in other words. I doubt too many stories are written purely for entertainment, & if any were, people will still perceive political content.
Tezuka was also a propagandist, though some will dislike my using this word. Yes, his stories are entertaining, but only at the price of exposing the readers to the messages. Atom was subjected to discrimination, abuse, etc. Humans took for granted that he would work for their benefit, & thus, resented any demand for thankfulness. Tezuka himself experienced some rather unpleasant things while just a boy, & these obviously affected his outlook & influenced his stories. In the books I have read, it states that he specifically used Atom as a vehicle to convey his messages.
More importantly, let us not forget that we all have different cultures, values, etc; but we are here to discuss all things pertaining to Tetsuwan Atom. Therefore, let us be cognizant of our differences, and respectful of others' opinions.
Heated arguments are o.k., so long as we respect one another. No name-calling is welcome here! You know who you are; you have been warned!

I love that "island" in the city -- looks like Mont Saint Michel.
Okay here's some Pluto stuff -- I like how Uran looks after him, and brings him paint . . . and how he can make flowers grow! And I like how he saves Atom at the end, and Dr. Ochanimizu basically tells Tenma to "get a life" beyond his stuffy, cerebral, ivory tower theories on things. Ochanomizu is a real mensch. Uran is an adorable uber empath, running around trying to resolve the pain and fear she feels in the world. Atom doesn't have that kind of sensitivity, and he's trying to understand his sister's abilities.
One of my favorite scenes is where Uran comments on the funny faces we humans always make, and where Atom grills Uran about sneaking off to be with Pluto (they don't know it's him at that point though).
Gotta get it out and read it again --yup it's really that good -- and you get to know all the other robots too. They each have a very touching story and you REALLY get connected to the whole lot of them. Read it, people - and you'll know why I can't wait for the movie!!

In the meantime, just for instruction,
The cloak and Dagger aspect of Pluto.
I thought this Page was most interesting.
It ties in nicely with the Hooded gang that
Astro defeated at the start of each episode
of the 60's version. But there is an Intelligence,
Spy aspect to Astro and Pluto. This page reminds
me of the Michael Caine spy movies. Harry Palmer?

And now Universal Hollywood must have it! What if Pluto is just a basic storyboard?
And Illumination must have it....
