Were these pictures from the Siren VHS version or the Madman DVD version of the Astro boy videos? Did you use some special equipment to get these shots?

All the screenshots I took are from the Madman DVDs. I just put the DVD in my computer and use the screen capture button of the PowerDVD software. Aside from resizing them so they are in a 4:3 format (they are as I watch the DVD, but not after I pasted the capture into Photoshop), I made no change to them, save for two pics. There was a very little black dot in Livian's hair in two screenshots I took and I just erased it. This is one of the two altered pics:



All the other pics are unchanged.

As for the Siren VHS version, I can't compare, because I have never seen it.

Yes, all the pics you just quoted are from that episode. I wrote it at the very beginning of the post you quoted, but it looks like you erased it along with the first pic!

Thanks for the photos, Astro_Forever! I had a great time looking through them all. You seem to know a lot about PowerDVD and photoshop and all that. Did you study Graphic Design or Multimedia at TAFE or university?

You are welcome, I'm glad you enjoyed them!

I don't know what TAFE is (I live in Canada) but anyway, no, I've never studied Graphic Design. PowerDVD is the standard software that came with the DVD player I bought for my computer a few months ago. It's not very intricate, at least not more than a standard VHS/DVD player. As for Photoshop, I know the basics, such as using layers, basic special effects, resizing, rotating, etc. I can follow a tutorial, but I'm far from being able to create miraculous transformations, unfortunately!

No, this is from the 1st episode. Tobio nhas just been killed. The Japanese version shows him lying in the hospital bed, making his last request to his papa. From what I read in other threads, Jay Rath stated that the Japanese themselves only provided the Americans with a cut version of the show. Thus English viewers never saw Tobio's last request, Atlas as a kid, Atlas pushing the icebergs into the ship's path, etc.
