Well, I can tell you this. Astro Boy seems to have a decent fanbase here in the Middle East after the constant airing of the 2003 series on Dubai broadcasted MBC3.

Well, it was mostly an Arabic translation of the American dub along with the US opening however I don't if the US aired the entire show but we sure did all 50 episodes. I also remember seeing an old dub of Jetter Mars around the late 80's or early 90's.

Welcome, Yuusha Senshi Godaiger! :)

Have earlier series of Astroboy like the 80s series been shown in the Middle East?

Yeah, the 1980 show aired in the ME around the 1980's, it aired under the title "كوكي " (Kookie), due to its popularity, suprisingly Jetter Mars arabic title was "كوكي العجيب " (Kookie El Ageib "Amazing Kookie") don't know which aired first over here in the Mideast.

Why do you think people hate Astro Boy?

He's not dressed in gangstah clothing, he doesn't carry a gun, he doesn't speak Spanish.

Todays kids are the product of our screwed up society and Astro isn't liked because he doesn't change to accept that fact.

Good. Astro would look stupid talking gang lingo and wearing drooping pants and clothing.

Though it would be pretty funny as a spoof, but I agree, that's certainly not Astro's "cup o' tea." Although I have to admit, and I didn't like this so much, they tried a little too hard to make Astro "cooler" in the 2003 series, with the way he talked sometimes and that very odd catchphrase.... I admit he got a little "Dirty Hary"-ish at times, and it's certainly not the Astro I'm used to.

Anybodywould. As I recall from my own teen years, what was cool to wear was just about anything we ourselves rather than our mothers chose. Some wanted to be greasers (Fonzy), but on the other hand, nobody wanted crewcuts or even visible ears. I myself currently use a practical style, one that best suits my particular misfortune. :hyo: I only wear a cap to keep rain off my face, a coat when it it reallycold, & never long sleeved shirts or neckties. :p irate:
