"Strange Wings" wrote:I checked it myself. You're right, the pose Astro's doing is similar to that you mentioned. Just mirrored - and Pruton's horn is missing in his clutching hand. :)

Is it the same angle though? It seems different to me but I haven't watched this episode in a while.

Btw, that one gets me each time I look at it:

I think this topic might still be of interest. I restored all of the pics on page 1.
:)

It's been more than 3 years now since I picked those books up from eBay, sadly I didn't come across further editions of the same kind thus far.
I guess those 'Anime-comicbooks' weren't quite popular back in the days, hence they disappeared very quickly from the surface.
The ones I got must be true collector items.

Bugger, the site I posted the link to on page 2 doesn't exist anymore.

Wow I had no idea these even existed. Can't believe these somehow escaped me. It looks amazing, I might even purchase these myself since I really love the art style of the 80s anime.

If you could post some more that would be great. Thanks Strange Wings.

Ah, yes! I see some one other than myself knows about the "anime-mangas" issued by NTV for some of Tezuka's creations. I was able to obtain about 10 or 11 volumes of the Astro Boy anime-mangas at different conventions back in the ninties. (I believe they were not as profitable to NTV as anticipated, because as far as I can determine there were only 10 or 11 volumes published as I have not seen any volume over volume# 11. (Or is it 12? I believe that is how many I own.) The lack of any volumes over 11 (or 12) leads me to believe that because sales were probably not as profitable as had been expected that they ceased publication and so only about two thirds of the episodes of the series were adapted.
@Strange Wings: How many do you have?
I too agree the production values and artwork are amazing?
I  :astro: :)

Unlike the many subpar anime mangas that were made for Inuyasha and others in the States, these have no blurring or artifacting in the images for the panels.
It was like they took the finalized cels and made high quality copies of them to be put into volumes unless this is just the low resolution/size of the scans giving that allure.

It's probably worth a ton since even the Astroboy manga of the 60's is more widespread than that, so keep it for sure.

It makes we wonder why NOW comics didn't take the scripts of the 80's anime and put the words into these panels instead of their subpar version they made?
